A review of my month with Feel Skin

How’s your skin looking? Fresh, dewey and hydrated? Or dry, dull and starting to sag with annoying spots and dry patches that keep cropping up. If you fall into the latter camp, I’ve got something to help you out (other than drinking more water which is always my number one recommendation for most ailments but especially dry skin!). It's called Feel Skin and I've been using it for a month so I can tell you all about how I got on.

When you’ve been staying in an over-heated, sweat inducing hospital room for a few days, your skin is likely to have taking a hit. From the lack of sleep to the plastic mattresses and lack of energy to even wash your face, when you get home, your skin is probably looking a little, well, sad!

Enter Feel’s latest addition to its supplement family - Feel Skin. As you know, I have been using Feel products for a couple of years now - I love their high quality ingredients, environmentally friendly packaging and studies that they’ve researched to ensure their products only contain useful, effective ingredients. I’ve written about how the Feel Omega 3’s can help your heart health, how I use their Sleep formula most nights to help me get to sleep (I suffer terribly some days with getting to sleep) and often recommend their Joints formula to my clients who suffer with arthritis.

So I’ll let you know what I found from the last few weeks taking the Feel Skin range so that you can see if it’s the right product for you.

First Impressions

When my box first arrived, I was impressed with the sleek, post-box friendly packaging that is environmentally friendly - cardboard with a paper pouch inside. Even the zip-lock seal is compostable. Win! No overwhelming choice in the health food shop, no plastic and a little insert to describe what the product is and how it works.

Score: 9/10 (the white is ok but always love a bright colour!)

Ingredients

Here’s an impressive list which I like not only for their skin health benefits, but these ingredients will also benefit heart health too (bonus!).

Astaxanthin is a carotenoid pigment, originally found in microalgae. It’s the pigment that gives flamingos, salmon and shrimp their pink colour as their diets are high in this algae species! Astaxanthin has antioxidant effects and has been shown to improve skin elasticity, texture, moisture and reduces oiliness. It is also an anti-inflammatory, which is essential when improving heart health.

Ashwagandha is a herb which I recommend to a lot of people. It is fantastic at helping people who are feeling stressed or anxious (who isn’t!). It’s been shown in studies to substantially reduce serum cortisol levels, the body’s stress hormone, and is thought to improve your resistance to stress. Stress can cause problems in many ways, as it increases oxidative stress in the body - this will then affect all organs including the heart and the skin.

Green tea extract, which is naturally high in many antioxidants called polyphenols and has been used to reduce oxidative stress (damage) for many years. For the skin, it’s been shown to reduce oiliness and inflammation of skin, helping with breakouts and improving skin texture. It can also help maintain healthy blood glucose levels and decrease cellular ageing, again essential when managing a cardiac condition. Many of my Hearties are sensitive to caffeine which can increase feelings of anxiety or induce palpitations so I’m pleased to find that this version is decaffeinated.

Zinc - one nutrient which I tell all my Hearties to increase. It’s fantastic for healing - the skin, wounds, post-surgery. All round winner and essential to ensure you are getting enough. Some of the foods that are high in zinc - oysters, liver, pumpkin seeds - people don’t eat enough of so a supplement is a good idea.

Vitamin B5 -  so important for energy, particularly when your energy has taken a hit after a hospital stay. It is important to maintain healthy skin, hair, and eyes, a healthy digestive tract and making red blood cells (which may have taken a hit if you’ve had surgery). It’s also important for your nervous system (mood, energy, brain health) and to help energy production in the cells (we can all do with more energy!).

Score: 9/10.

Love the mix of antioxidants with Ashwaghanda to help with stress, which is so underestimated in how it affects our health. I would have given a 10/10 but I would love to see other nutrients in one product but appreciate can only fit so much into one capsule!

Quality and price

If you’ve read my blog posts before (or seen my silly Instagram videos) you’ll know that I prefer to get my nutrients in through food rather than supplements. I do think supplements have a time and place, however, especially when your body is in extra need of nutrients for healing, in times of stress, or if you simply can’t eat enough good quality food right now. Often, the supplements we find in the supermarket or at the health food shop are are full to the brim with fillers, they contain poor quality nutrients and they generally just don’t work. Hence why they are cheap.

This is why I am so keen on the Feel range, in particular the Skin Range. After doing a bit of research I found that their quality of ingredients was far higher of that used in other companies’ and dosages were actually beneficial. They work with a team of medical and nutrition experts to create a dose that is actually beneficial.

Which means you’re not getting ripped off. I am a firm believer in ‘you get what you pay for’ and that couldn’t be truer here.

I love that the Feel brand is a home-grown product. They are UK based and the company only works with registered suppliers to develop their exclusive in-house formulas.

Score: 7/10

Although these are obviously good quality their price will be too much for some. Feel often do discounts, however, and if mention PARTNER10 at the checkout page, you’ll get 10% off your order. My Results:

If you've seen some of my videos, you may have noticed my dry, painful looking skin, with a eczema rash around my mouth. Now I know one month isn't going to make a miracle happen, but I did notice a big difference in my eczema around my mouth and the texture of the rest of my mouth. So a win from me! After a month my skin felt less dry, stronger and more resiliant. I found that my spots on my chin weren't so prominent and I had a slightly more 'glowy' texture. I didn't change too much else during that month (I already drink lots of water and eat pretty well) so I do think the supplement made. apositive difference. I'm going to keep them up and will report back on future results.

Score: 7.5/10

It's too soon to tell but so far so good, have seen some great results in only one month!

Before: Not happy :(

After - Looking so much better already!

Overall:

If your skin isn’t what it used to be and you’re suffering, tried plenty of improvements to your diet (especially more water!), then this is worth a try! I love it, I’m a raving fan of Feel products. My favourites include the Omega 3’s, their Joints Formula and the Multivitamin. Don’t forget to use the code PARTNER10 to get 10% off your first order here!
